Ali is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been playing soccer since the age of 8. During his playing career, Ali played for Liverpool International Academy of Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Huron High School and for Defiance College. He has returned as a coach for Liverpool International Academy of Ann Arbor and for Ann Arbor Huron High School.

Ali started coaching with Ann Arbor Huron High School in 2020 and LFC Ann Arbor in 2022.
